GENDER

The signs for MALE and FEMALE are used to identify the sex of a person.
N.B. They do not apply to animals, birds, etc.

PARTS OF THE BODY

Mosy parts of the human body are indicated either by touching the particular part, outlining its shape or miming its function, by using the BODY HAND -i.e. the tip of the 4f.h. held as the signer finds most convenient , but never with the 4f. pointing forward as in the OUTLINE HAND, or with its palm facing forward. The BODY HAND is also used with the BASIC SIGNS for living creatures to denote parts of their bodies (e.g. horn, tail, etc.)

THE FIVE SENSES

The senses of Sight, Hearing, Smell, Taste and Touch, and some of their characteristics, are indicated by the SENSATION HAND - i.e. the tip fo the 2f.h., held in various positions according to the instruction for performing the signs.
